Faith & Encouragement

Playbook 13: Leave a Legacy

October 26, 2026 · 7 min read

A Letter to You

More Than a Senior… A Difference Maker

By now, your senior has spent years walking the same hallways.

They've built friendships.

Made mistakes.

Learned lessons.

Created memories.

Soon, another class will take their place.

And that raises an important question:

What will they leave behind?

Not trophies.

Not awards.

Not popularity.

Legacy isn't about being the most well-known.

It's about making other people's lives better because you were there.

Maybe your senior encourages younger students.

Maybe they thank the cafeteria staff by name.

Maybe they invite someone sitting alone to join them.

Maybe they mentor a freshman on the team.

Maybe they serve quietly without ever asking for recognition.

Those are the things people remember.

As moms, we often focus on helping our seniors prepare for what comes next.

But before they leave, let's encourage them to leave something beautiful behind.

Kindness.

Integrity.

Faith.

Compassion.

Hope.

That's the kind of legacy that lasts.

Ask the Question

This Week's Challenge

Ask your senior this question:

"When people talk about you years from now, what do you hope they say?"

Then ask:

"What can you do this week to become that person?"

Mom's Reminder

Success may open doors. Character leaves footprints.

This Week's Prayer

Lord, Help my child live in a way that reflects Your love. May they be known for kindness, humility, courage, and compassion. Teach them that true greatness isn't measured by applause but by how they love and serve others. May the legacy they leave point people toward You. Amen.

Your Action Plan

This Week's Checklist

  • Perform one anonymous act of kindness.
  • Encourage a younger student.
  • Thank someone who often goes unnoticed.
  • Pray for your school community.
  • Ask your senior how they want to be remembered.
  • Write down one way your family hopes to make a difference together this year.
A Place of Meaning

Memory Mission

Take a photo somewhere meaningful at your senior's school.

Write a short reflection about what that place has taught your family over the years.

One day, that photo will remind you that while buildings stay the same, the people inside them continue to change lives.

Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:16

Quote of the Week

A legacy isn't what you leave for people—it's what you leave in people.
